Currently Looking For
Primarily, I’m looking to build my list in genre fiction of all kinds. I have a special place in my heart for sci-fi and fantasy with a strong sense of style, prose, and characterization. I love writing with an appreciation for the macabre, a deathly sense of humor, or gothic sensibilities. I am also open to YA horror, adult horror, and adult thrillers. To give more specifics for fiction, I’m looking for: Fresh fantasy that can be high, low, urban or epic, with great characters that hook you and high concept, easy through lines. Fantasy with interesting or novel magic systems. Fantasy with a unique twist on older stories or fairy tales. Sci-fi noir, space operas, tech-thrillers, or stories based around experimentation, a lá classics like Frankenstein or Jurassic Park, or much newer works like Dark Matter or Wrath. Sci-fi that deals with the important questions of today’s society. Mixed genre works like horror/fantasy or sci-fi/horror. Horror that grips into your subconscious with unique takes on things humans are all classically afraid of. I am open to romantasy, but it’s not my bread and butter. If it’s got a twist to it, give me a try. In non-fiction, I’d love to see the following: Anything that deals with hard hitting truths or the darker aspects of humanity. New technology. Political intrigue. Restaurant-focused works, whether cookbooks, or about the general world of restauranting. I am the son of two restaurateurs, so it’s a subject close to me. Intriguing studies of lesser known people or situations. Having represented Sir Ken Robinson for many years, I am deeply invested in the subject of education. If you are a teacher or educator, I’d love to hear from you. I’ve worked with many wonderful true crime authors over the years, including Matthew Phelps and Aphrodite Jones. I also managed the estate of Vincent Bugliosi, author of Helter Skelter. True crime is always something I will give a chance to. What I look for in all manuscripts or proposals: In fiction and non-fiction, strong characters with discernable personalities. I want my curiosity sated and to feel that I was thoroughly engaged. Show me you know how to write a tight, well-constructed narrative. *** For non-fiction proposals specifically, you must have a well-developed platform, or be able to show the growth of said existing platform. *** Fun facts about me: I have two cats – Bob and Betty! I’m a huge video game and comic nerd. Too many to list. If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, let me know. I still draw and paint occasionally. I practiced martial arts for 25+ years before my back gave out.
