Currently Looking For
I’ve always had varied tastes when it comes to reading, and I think that’s reflected in the types of projects I take on. I’m looking for the great trifecta–stand-out characters, engaging plot, and a killer voice. I love most those manuscripts that change my perspective on the world when I’m done reading. Building on the words of Rudine Sims Bishop in her pivotal “Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors,” books are mirrors, windows, sliding doors, ladders, and rocket ships. I view my role as to bring to market those projects in which readers can find themselves and have their horizons expanded, their thoughts challenged. Where they can escape, explore, or just have fun. At Pixel+Ink, our focus is on books that can leap across media, especially to TV or film. For that reason, everything we do is in series form. That can mean a multi-book arc or stories linked by character and world that could easily be read independently. For picture books and chapter books, we’re focused on character-driven narratives with rich worlds. In the middle grade and graphic novel space, what that definition is might be broader and more fluid. Perpetually on My Wishlist:
