Currently Looking For
I am all about voice and imperfect characters. On the page, they should be aware of it, yet sometimes they can be in denial of their wrongdoings – that’s what makes us human, yes? I want honest, sincere, thoughts-painted-on-the-page types of characters – holding nothing back. I want modern ideas. Story ideas that I can immediately relate to what is going on today. Give me social issues to really think about. Give me family dynamics to really digest. And I dare you, try to make me laugh – I love witty, sarcastic humor. Make me dig into someone else’s life for a moment, while I reevaluate my own. I focus on women’s fiction/book club and realistic YA (and selected narrative non-fiction). Just to name a few, I am inspired by these creative works (in no particular order): JUNO, PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, ALMOST FAMOUS, WINTERGIRLS, CRASH, THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU.
